CAConrad, a 2011 Pew Fellow in the Arts, created a (Soma)tic Poetry Exercise to inspire people to write their own poems about the Wagner Free Institute of Science, light, and “fear of the dark.” CAConrad’s work was developed as part of a recently launched project to comprehensively upgrade the Wagner’s electrical system. In 2011, the Wagner received a Preservation Planning grant from The Pew Center for Arts & Heritage through the Heritage Philadelphia Program to support the planning phase of the project. The electrical upgrade will make our National Historic Landmark building more energy efficient and will enhance lighting throughout the building–especially in the museum.
We invite you to visit the Wagner, find inspiration in our building and collections, and let CAConrad’s exercise guide you through the experience. After, create your own poem.
Poems can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org and will be posted on this blog.
Thank you and enjoy!
